I am excited and humbled to be the principal of Discovery Oaks Elementary.   I am thrilled to be a part of such a vibrant and dynamic community.  I have already been impressed with the passion, dedication, and commitment to excellence that resonates within Discovery Oaks Elementary.  

I bring with me a wealth of experience as an educator and administrator with a deep-rooted belief in the power of education to transform lives. My vision for Discovery Oaks Elementary is to build upon its already outstanding reputation and ensure that every student is provided with a supportive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

I strongly believe in fostering a culture of collaboration and open communication among all stakeholders. I value the partnership between the school and the home, and I am committed to working closely with parents to create a shared vision for the success and well-being of our students.

Dear Discovery Oaks Voyagers,

It is a delight to be a part of a community that cares and shows up for ALL students.  Joining the Voyager team has brought many celebrations into my life as an educator.  One of the biggest highlights from last year has been rejoining our great community, in two community events for our Night of Lights Parade and Girls on the Run 5K.  We value the support and encouragement we have received among teachers, staff, parents, caregivers, and look forward to bringing new community events and partnerships to our school. I am proud of the accomplishments for our school and students as we have positively reflected on all the changes throughout this school year, all while maintaining our A status! 

I hope we continue to learn and grow together, because you MATTER! I know the future holds exciting things for each of you!

Dear Discovery Oak Elementary  Parents and Stakeholders,

With great joy, I introduce myself, Avius Johnson,  Assistant Principal at Discovery Oaks Elementary.  With pride, I welcome you to our DOE family. It has been my absolute pleasure to serve the students and families in Clay County as a Teacher, Instructional Coach, and now Assistant Principal.

As a mother of two children, I understand the importance of a school with dedicated faculty and staff.  At DOE, the adults believe every student should have an adult in the building who they can seek out for a kind smile, a “good morning!” or encouragement. Teachers ensure that student’s individual learning needs are met within the instructional setting. I encourage every family to join and/or volunteer with our PTO.  Parent involvement increases student achievement and enriches the school community.  As we build upon existing relationships and forge new ones, let us collaboratively support each child's social, emotional, and academic well-being at Discovery Oaks Elementary.  Through this team effort, we will make tremendous progress for all.

I look forward to our joint effort throughout this school year to ensure each student finds success. Your continued support is vital to that mission. Student attendance is an integral part as well. Together through engaging lessons, student participation, and parental support, we will have the amazing year I know awaits us.
